In a meeting held on Monday, the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, expressed appreciation for the involvement of German companies in Iraq’s developmental endeavors. The statement was made during discussions with Germany’s Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office, Tobias Lindner, and his accompanying delegation, as detailed in a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Al-Sudani underscored the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the investment climate and attract foreign expertise, particularly against the backdrop of initiatives such as the Development Road project and the opportunities it presents. Emphasizing the strides made in stabilizing Iraq, Al-Sudani also highlighted the growing capabilities of Iraqi security forces. He noted the progress in transitioning from the international coalition to bilateral relations with member states, notably following the defeat of ISIS militants.

The Iraqi Prime Minister addressed the prevailing situation in the Gaza Strip, outlining Iraq’s endeavors to provide humanitarian assistance to Palestinians and its commitment to fostering a ceasefire and averting the escalation of conflict. Al-Sudani urged the international community to shoulder responsibility in halting the persistent warfare and oppression faced by the Palestinian populace.

Minister Lindner commended Iraq’s achievements in terms of progress, economic advancement, and stability. He reiterated Germany’s commitment to the joint action plan formulated with Al-Sudani during his recent visit to Berlin. Lindner also affirmed Germany’s support for Iraq’s efforts to conclude the presence of the international coalition, expressing willingness to engage in a bilateral cooperation agreement encompassing security and military domains.
