The Republic of Gambia, the smallest country on the mainland of Africa with a population of just over 2 million, has announced plans to host the forthcoming OIC Summit with great excitement.

The OIC Banjul Summit is the 15th edition of the Islamic Summit of Heads of State and Governments of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). It will be held in Banjul, The Gambia from 4 – 5th May 2024. Presidents, Kings, Sultans, Prime Ministers, Rulers, and other world leaders from the fifty-seven (57) member countries of the OIC and beyond are expected to be in attendance.

OIC Members Convene in Banjul, Gambia to Address Regional Affairs and Economic Development

The president of the Republic of Gambia, Adama Barrow, in his statement, has ensured great security measures, safety and hospitality in the preparation of the OIC Banjul Summit.

In an interview  Muslim Parrot, citizens of The Gambia, in Serekunda Market and Senegambia Tourist Market  expressed  happiness and excitement as 57 different countries will be coming to their country. 

A distinguished resident of the Republic of Gambia, Sarjo Ceesay expresses deep gratitude and happiness, “I am happy to receive big icons from other countries to Gambia peacefully. I am happy for fellow citizens because this is obvious the  event will uplift the nation and its citizens.”

“Whenever our children from the Republic of Gambia come cross this story of the OIC Banjul Summit in the next future”. The news  that different presidents fromdifferent counties are coming to Gambia will excite the and they  will be proud of themselves and their countries as well,” Sarjo Marenah said. 

A diligent Gambian taxi driver said, “It’s with great pleasure to have the OIC Summit done in Gambia, knowing full well that a lot of countries will be eager and happy to to host them. We are deeply happy to have them here and I’m happy about that” He said. 

“It’s a good and proud moment for me and my country because having opportunity to host different country of OIC member is a great privilege. The is an avenue to showcase country to the world and to show the world how hospitable we are. Muhammed,” Sanyang said.
