SalamAir, the pioneer low-cost airline in Oman, celebrated the grand opening of its new headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq, with a spectacular inauguration ceremony.

The Ambassador of Oman to Iraq, Hamed Ahmed Eidroos, underlined the historical significance of SalamAir’s establishment in Iraq. The event was graced by distinguished guests from various authorities, airports, and esteemed commercial partners from Baghdad and across Iraq, including the ambassadors of Kuwait and Yemen.

Marking a significant milestone, this new office represents the first Omani airline to establish a presence in Iraq. SalamAir successfully resumed direct flights between Oman and Iraq on August 31, 2023, after a hiatus of 20 years. This crucial air link has facilitated enhanced connectivity and collaboration between the two nations.

The inauguration of the Baghdad office underscores SalamAir’s dedication to expanding its network and offering customers more affordable travel options. SalamAir operates four weekly flights from Baghdad to Muscat, connecting passengers to a range of exciting destinations such as Salalah, Colombo, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Dhaka, Jaipur, Lucknow, Multan, and Dammam. The airfare for SalamAir’s Muscat-Baghdad flights starts at 97 Omani Riyals (approximately $252).

In a strategic move to boost tourist traffic through Muscat and Salalah international airports, SalamAir introduced three new destinations in mid-2023: Almaty in Kazakhstan, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, and the Turkish city of Rize, as reported by Times Aerospace. This initiative aims to enhance passenger movement and promote tourism in the region.
