A Dubai security officials have reported that two people met their end, while 12 others were injured in a traffic accident that happened on Sheikh Zayed Road on Sunday.
The incident which occurred around 8:30 am was as a result of a 14-seater bus collision with a road barrier which resulted in a fire.
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Traffic Department at Dubai Police, said the 14-seater bus collided with a road barrier on Al Manara Bridge, towards Jebel Ali, before the vehicle caught fire. The incident occurred around 8.30am.
Director of Traffic, Brigadier Saif Muhair AL Mazroui said, “The bus flipped over due to the impact and a blaze erupted after the accident in which two people died.”
The injured have been transferred to the hospital immediately emergency services arrive.
It is however not clear the cause of the accident. Many believed the driver had swerved the vehicle suddenly befre the collision with the road barrier.
Dubai Police have urged drivers to be cautious while driving and follow traffic instructions.
“Motorists need to be extra cautious and should not be distracted while driving,” said Brig Al Mazroui.
