Bronx, New York-A long forgotten legend in our midst, Hon. Claudette Colvin, had been unearthed in 2015 by Peace December International right in the Bronx where she has been quietly living an ordinary and hardworking life since escaping for her life from Montgomery in 1958.

On Wednesday, March 2, 1955, a studious 15 year old Claudette Colvin and her young rider-mates triggered the Montgomery, Alabama Bus Boycott which ended Jim Crow Era Segregation, produced legends of Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, among others, as well as the passages of several historic Federal Civil Rights Laws.

Upon learning the contributions of this long time Bronx resident from Peace December leaders, Hon. Assemblyman Jose Rivera sponsored the first nationwide official annual Claudette Colvin Day celebration on March 2nd.

Today, the Claudette Colvin Day Committee is hosting its third annual celebration with a presentation from Mr. Peter Rogina (co-creator of Peace Lights) who wrote a school curriculum about Claudette Colvin. You are cordially invited! #claudettecolvinday #peacedecember #peacelights
