Muscat: After the official approval of state government of the fuel subsidy cards, approximately 75,000 citizens of Oman applied for it, but nearly 10,000 got it.

Reports stated that Government of Oman introduced low-income Omanis whose plans had been announced and introduced by the new company that would be expected in the month of January 2018.

Some of the officials told on December 24th,2017, “The number of applicants is expected to reach 150,000 in the coming days. Ten thousand citizens have already received fuel subsidy cards, available at petrol stations nationwide.

“As per this mechanism, Omani citizens who meet eligibility requirements will get 200 litres per month of M91 petrol at a cost of not more than 180 baisa (about Dh1.71) per litre.”

The purpose of that new scheme ensured the welfare of the state.

Reports gathered disclosed that the scheme relied on a system that connected the Royal Oman Police’s system with fuel marketing with accuracy and smooth implementation.

It had been mentioned that scheme announced the age limit of the applicants for the registered vehicles with Royal Oman Police or a fishing boat that was previously registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries which would be no more than 600 riyals.

The fuel consumption rate in past five years was also analyzed from the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
