By Lahore: Begum Kalsoom Nawaz declared victorious after the election held in NA-120, according to state official News agency, the result was unofficially declared right after counting of votes.
The result had been announced officially on September 18,2017 for the National Assembly seat which was left vacant by Nawaz Sharif’s ouster in the so-called Panama case verdict.
It is declared that Begum Kalsoom Nawaz received 61,254 votes while the opponent Dr. Yasmin Rashid got 47,066 votes from 220 polling stations in the constituency.
Yaqoob Sheikh, an independent candidate backed by Milli Muslim stood third while Faisal Mir was fourth according to provincial results.
Former Prime Minister’s daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “not only have NA-120 voters rejected the Supreme Court’s decision (disqualifying Nawaz Sharif’s fake iqama issue), but also rejected the court’s spokesman,” while talking to her followers from the balcony.
“Nawaz Sharif is the prime minister of people’s heart.
“Nobody can change love of people for Mr. Sharif.
“Voters have given a decision on a decision is that our Prime Minister is still Nawaz Sharif.”
People from Lahore and across the country celebrated that victory. They distributed sweets and danced on drum beat.
