Speaking on Sunday, 27th of August, at the Federal School of Statistics, Ibadan, Oyo state, during a two-day Secondary School Coordinators’ workshop organized by the Directorate of Secondary Schools Coordinators, under the umbrella of the MSSN Oyo Area Unit, Dr Abass Alade from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, pinpointed the need for youths to develop positive Character, Habits and Attitude in order to improve the society. He established that ‘the better these attributes are among citizens, the better a nation will become’.

According to the reasoned counselor, living a purposeful life as a believer in divinity and a responsible leader is equally hinged on two essential factors –Morals and Performance.

While admonishing delegates on ways to go in fulfilling responsibilities attached to the position of school coordination, the Lecturer of Chemical Engineering, in his talk, noted that there must be a synergy between these ingredients for success to be recorded.

“As leaders that we are, and as dutiful young minds, we must live up and ensure that we are morally upright while making sure that we do not fail in areas of productivity,” he stated.

Also speaking at the Workshop, Barr. Abdulwaheed Olowojaye, discussing how optimum commitment could serve as tool for secondary school coordination, hinted that the secondary school is the most vital aspect of the education system –thus, the need for coordinators to demonstrate love for the job and display commitment, determination and readiness. He noted however that ‘commitment will not be complete if coordinators fail to sacrifice time to identify the task, features and basic tools or requirements to deliver on the job’.

As a reminder at the close of the event, the moderator, Mallam Abdurrahman Elegbede urged delegates to put all that have been learnt into practice as this will be the glory of attending such gathering. The event featured games, dialogues, exchanges and goodwill messages from guests and observer with a brief session with the Amir of the Area Unit.
