Bronx, New York-Community Public Safety Partnership will be holding an emergency Press Conference on Friday, July 7, 2017 to address the ongoing senseless shootings in the Bronx, including the shootings inside the Bronx Lebanon Hospital and the assassination of our NYPD officer, Miosotis Familia, 48, this morning. Our condolences to the families of these victims of gun-violence.
More than a dozen organizations, clergy and community activists shall be converging at Peace December Headquarters, 2006 Westchester Avenue, Bronx, New York 10462 at 5:30-6:30 PM to express their anger and unveil their borough-wide grassroots violent crimes prevention strategy plans.
With the remarkable progress made in reducing shootings and murders in the city in recent years, the residents of the Bronx can’t afford to see their borough bucking the trend and becoming the murderous county of the city again.
For this reason, local grassroots organizations that came together last year to form a united front, Community Public Safety Partnership, and have launched several residents-driven prevention initiatives in the city and state. Among these initiatives is the weekly Peacemakers Dinners it coordinates on Fridays, in which former gang members mentor current and those prone to be gang members in addition to being a network of resources.
