Ugandan doctors to further their training in UK

Uganda’s medical doctors from Gulu district are to travel to the UK for further training and experience under an exchange program organized by the Uganda UK Health Alliance.

Gulu district is a district in the Northern Region of Uganda.

Moses Mulimira, the Director of the Uganda UK Health Alliance led a team of experts Jonathan Brown, the chief finance operations officer NHS global exchange and Kerrin Waite senior program officer NHS to Gulu district with a mission of assessing the competences of the medical personnel in Gulu Hospital. The assessed personnel are going to be used in the exchange program.

The team before heading to Gulu, met with Doctor Diane Atwine, the permanent secretary ministry of health.
Mulimira, the head of the health portfolio on the NRM Diaspora League Interim Committee too, stated that the visit is aimed at promoting health in Uganda through experience and training.

“Under this program, Medical practitioners from Uganda will travel to the UK for more training and acquiring more experience and in exchange, their colleagues from the UK will come to Uganda and work in our hospitals for a planned period of time,” explained Moses Mulimira about the program.

Moses Kimuli, the Interim spokesperson NRM Diaspora League, said that they (Ugandans in the Diaspora), have sighted tourism and health sectors as part of their top priorities to support in a bid to attract investors to come to Uganda.
