On Monday, Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Hassanal Bolkiah distributed Kurnia to over 10,000 residents. It is the memorable day when people of different age including children, men and women as well as orphans received the Kurnia from His majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan.

Kurnia are the personal Eid-ul-Fitr (the festive of Muslims after the Holy month of Ramadan) gifts from Sultan for selected groups.

According to some Brunei officials, Sultan has an inclusive approach and respect for the religious festivals. He introduced “open house” at his official residence in the capital Bandar Seri Begawan. For three consecutive days, the palace is open for common man as guests. They will enjoy meal and gifts.

An exclusive research by National Geographic Channel shows that Brunei Darussalam is considered to be golden sparrow. This land has vast oil and gas reserves. Sultan is the richest man in the world with a reputation for extravagance and fondness for polo ponies and supercars.

The Royal palace will remain open for everyone. Banquet is laid on, after which male guests can meet and shake hands with Sultan while women can meet his wife, Queen Saleha. Everyone is welcomed at the Sultan’s palace without any invitation.
