FRIDAY, May 27th, 2016, Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer unveiled 19 new trash bins along Queens Boulevard. Majority Leader Van Bramer allocated $10,000 to place these trash cans at intersections along Queens Boulevard to collect litter and keep the street clean. The new cans replace old wire bins, which attract rats and create an eyesore by putting litter on display.

“Every resident deserves to walk down clean, pleasant streets,” said Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer. “These new bins will help combat litter and keep rodents out of the neighborhood. I’m glad to allocate these funds and work with the Department of Sanitation to keep Queens Boulevard clean.”

“We are pleased to partner with Council Member Van Bramer to bring 19 new high end litter baskets to Queens Boulevard,” said Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia. “We are thankful to Councilman Van Bramer for his continuing support of the Department and for helping us keep New York City clean.  This effort between an elected official and the Sanitation Department – as well as our ongoing work with local merchants and residents – demonstrates how close partnerships can make a real difference in a community.”
