By A month dedicated to peace could seem like a far-fetched idea, especially in New York City, but Sheikh Moussa Drammeh founder of NY Peace Coalition and his team have been working tirelessly to promote peace during December with their Peace December efforts.
Peace December, an initiative to promote peace worldwide during the month of December, was started in 2011 in the Bronx where he resides in then grew to New York state and now includes a few countries worldwide.
This was a way “to combat crime, violence, and bias attacks against other people,” said Drammeh, a man who is completely against violence.
In honor of Peace December commencing there will be a lighting ceremony held at Baruch College Performing Arts Center on Nov. 30, 2014,
The concept of peace can seem abstract as many people hope for it, but Peace December makes it something that can actually be attained between one another through our own personal actions.
“If we can get to a place where people except that others decision are different from theirs then the world will be more peacesful”
