To all my Muslim brothers and sisters (and those pretending to Muslims) who are attacking others in pursuit of purifying Islam or preventing unislamic behaviors, I invite you to the book of wisdom, sound reasoning and merciful example of our prophet. Perhaps these seven helpful guidance may stop you from committing atrocities against humanity in the name of Islam.

  1. It is unislamic to force people into anything against their will.If it had been thy Lord’s will, they would all have believed,- all who are on earth! wilt thou then compel mankind, against their will, to believe!” 10:99
  2. We have a lot more in common to be hateful of each other. Those who believe (in the Qur’an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in God/Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.” 2:62
  3.  Our neighbors (close and far) must benefit not hurt from us.Serve God, and join not any partners with Him; and do good- to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbors who are near, neighbors who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (ye meet), and what your right hands possess: For God loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious”. 4:36
  4. Personal choices are protected in Islam, even if they differ from ours.let there be no compulsion in religion: truth stands out clear from error: whoever rejects evil and believes in God hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. and God heareth and knoweth all things.”2:256
  5. Religious appearances can be deceitful. All that remains will be an ignorant body of people whom when the people will ask them about their religious needs, and they will issue fatwas (religious opinion on a matter) in the light of their own ideas and desires (ignoring the qur’an and hadith) and will both deviate themselves and lead other into deviation.”  (Sahih Bukhari
  6. We must concentrate on our actions, not others’.  “Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another; That man can have nothing but what he strives for;” 53:38,39
  7. God alone is the Judge, not man. “O ye who believe! When ye go abroad in the cause of Allah, investigate carefully, and say not to anyone who offers you a salutation: “Thou art none of a believer!” Coveting the perishable goods of this life: with Allah are profits and spoils abundant. Even thus were ye yourselves before, till Allah conferred on you His favors: Therefore carefully investigate. For Allah is well aware of all that ye do.” 4:94
