DROMM STATEMENT ON COUNCIL CHAIR SELECTION

“I would like to congratulate Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and the Council’s Rules Committee for the hard work they have done regarding the selection of Council Members as chairpersons of the various committees,” said Council Member Daniel Dromm (D-Jackson Heights, Elmhurst).  “These are great nominations and they will prove beneficial to all New Yorkers.  It shows that the Council will indeed be united around our efforts to move forward with a progressive agenda.  Now, let’s get to work!”

DROMM STATEMENT ON BEING NOMINATED FOR EDUCATION CHAIRPERSON

“Before being elected to the NYC Council, I spent 31 years working with children on a daily basis as a New York City public school teacher and a day care center director,” said Council Member Daniel Dromm (D-Jackson Heights, Elmhurst).  “I am deeply honored to have been nominated as Chairperson of the Education Committee. Education has always been my passion and is what got me involved in politics in the first place.  I look forward to working with Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito to address education issues such as ensuring universal pre-kindergarten for all preschoolers, reducing class size, improving teacher morale, ensuring teachers have a role in the decision making process and fighting to create a safe and supportive environment for all students but especially for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning students.  I am tremendously excited to serve in this capacity.”
