A report recently released by UN indicates that Al-Shabaab militants are coming to Kenya to set up new terror networks.
In the past months, Kenya has experienced several attacks from terrorists attached to Al Shabab. At first they targeted tourists mostly in Mombasa which led to Kenya to actively get involved in AU led war against terrorists in Somalia.
The UN report, dated July 12th, and written by Monitoring Group on Somalia and Eritrea links the terrorists preparing to re-organize in Kenya to Al-Hijra, an organisation it says changed name from Muslim Youth Centre (MYC).
MYC was reportedly associated with slain Muslim cleric Aboud Rogo who was shot dead in Mombasa in August last year. his death caused riots in which over a dozen people died.
The report said in parts, ”Al-Hijra is striving to regain the initiative, in part through its fighters in Somalia returning to conduct new and more complex operations, and through strengthening its ties to other groups in the region,” the report dated July 12 says.
It adds on that the terrorists in Kenya are seeking to form new local networks because the military operations in Somalia have weakened Al-Shabaab.
