 A ministerial meeting of the countries in great lakes region and international partners is today being  held in Addis Ababa, at the AU Headquarters (Plenary Hall of the AU Conference Centre – Old building).

The meeting started at 10:00 am. Among the countries in the region are Tanzania, Kenya, democratic republic of Congo (DRC), Rwanda, Burundi, Southern Sudan, Zambia and others.

The meeting, which is a follow up to the consultative meeting on the operationalization of the security arrangements agreed to in eastern DRC, will discuss best ways and means of establishing and deploying the Neutral International Force (NIF) and enhancing the Expanded Joint Verification Mechanism (EJVM).

Several Ministers from the region and other high officials, including from partner countries and institutions are attending the meeting.
