Canada’s minister of International Cooperation, Julian Fantino hasĀ appreciated Canadians for their generous support to help meet theĀ needs of millions of people in the Sahel region of Africa.

She said that the help from Canadians has saved many lives in thatĀ region. He requested them to continue with the generosity.

She said, ‘We have a long tradition of generosity in helping the mostĀ vulnerable people in times of great need. I am pleased that CanadiansĀ have responded and, once again, lived up to our Canadian values toĀ help the world’s most vulnerable, particularly women and children.’

The food and nutrition crisis in the Sahel is affecting over 18Ā million people, including more than one million children at risk ofĀ severe acute malnutrition. With Canada’s help, humanitarianĀ organizations have provided food assistance to more than six millionĀ people and have treated more than 526,000 children suffering fromĀ severe acute malnutrition.
