ADL STRONGLY CONDEMNS ALLEGED
ANTI-MUSLIM HATE CRIME IN QUEENS

New York, NY, November 19, 2012 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today strongly condemned the attack on a Muslim man outside the Masijid-Saaliheen mosque on Kissena Boulevard in Queens.

On November 18, the alleged perpetrator stabbed the victim several times while screaming anti-Muslim epithets.

Ron Meier, ADL New York Regional Director issued the following statement:

This act of hate sends shock waves through an entire community, and makes residents feel unsafe.

It is critical that we reaffirm our commitment to remaining a community that is united in speaking out against hate.

We commend the NYPD and its Hate Crimes Task Force for the immediate response, and we are confident that by working together, the perpetrator will be brought swiftly to justice.

The victim was treated and released from Queens General Hospital.

Anyone with information on the incident should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.

The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
