Muslim students in Burundi have been advised not to copy cultures from foreign countries especially those which practice anti Islam behavior.
The advice has been given by sheik Abubaker Habimana while meeting Muslim secondary school students in the country’s capital, Bujumbura.
He said,’We have a problem of some students copying western culture through internet. You should always put your religion before anything else. Before you copy anything, first ask yourself, does my religion allow it?’
He warned female Muslim students against using their bodies to get ‘quick’ money. He said they should respect their bodies and avoid getting involved in sex before marriage.
He said,’Dear girls, do not behave like the Brazilian girl who has sold off her virginity to a foreigner. It is unbelievable that a sane girl can advertise that she is selling her virginity.’
He made the remark in reference to a Brazilian female student who sold her virginity in an online auction for US$780,000 as part of a documentary organized by an Australian filmmaker.
Brazilian girl, Catarina Migliorini, 20, was reportedly the subject of 15 bids, with a Japanese man named only as Natsu winning after beating over 15 other men, according to the website of the film ‘Virgins Wanted.’
Arrangements are being done for Migliorini to be taken to her buyer soon so that he breaks the virginity he bought.
Habimana said that although the girl claims that she will use part of the money to construct houses for poor people in her village, the act is not only unbelievable but also very dirty and no Muslim girl should emulate her.
