Following the discovering of the corpse of the recently kidnapped Lebanese in bush expatriates in Nigeria have asked government to improve on their security so that they are not kidnapped or killed.

‘We need police protection,’ said Michael Collin, an expatriate in Nigeria. ‘We can not go on like this when we are abducted and killed like goats.’ he added.

According to police, the decomposing corpse of a kidnapped expatriate employee of JMS Construction firm was yesterday discovered in a bush between Omuawa and Ubima in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The deceased, whose identity the police has not yet released, was reportedly abducted about two weeks ago while at work on a site on Azuaha Road.

Rivers sate Police Public Relations Officer Ben Ugwuegbulam said that
it was unfortunate that the Lebanese was killed.

He said,’It is an unfortunate incident. We have started carrying out investigations into the killing. We will do all we can to get those responsible.’

He said that the body of the Lebanese was discovered by women who were
searching for edible leaves in the bush where it had been dumped.

The medical report indicates that he was killed about 6 days ago. The body is being treated so that it is flown to Lebanon for burial.

That is not the first time an expatriate is being killed in Nigeria. Over the last three years over 20 expatriates have been abducted. Some were released after paying ransom while others were killed.
