Police in Nigeria has uncovered a rebels’ bomb factory where most of the bombs that have been used to terrorize the citizens have been being made.

According to police, the bomb factory has been uncovered in Kano state. It said the factory was located at a place called Hawan-Hotoro, on the outskirts of Kano city.

Two people suspected to have been working at the factory have been arrested by the police which said they are going to help in investigations.

Kano state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris,  said ‘ We have uncovered a bomb factory. We have also impounded three vehicles used
by those suspected to be making bombs in the factory. We also got various bomb manufacturing materials in the factory.’

He said before entering the factory, they cordoned it off for some time. He said the building housing the factory will definitely be demolished.

Other two vehicles suspected to be property of the Boko Haram sect, who are believed to be behind the bomb attacks in the country, were also intercepted and taken to the police headquarters.

Locally made bombs have led to killing of over 1000 people in Nigeria in the past few years. Of recent, suspected Boko Haram Islamists started using them to attack churches during worshiping hours.

The materials found in the factory, according to police, are those used to make bombs. They included detonators, concentrated salt, ammonia nitrate, a battery charger and lap tops. Also recovered were four AK-47 guns and seven magazines fully loaded with bullets.
