Jordan’s King Abdullah II has urged the international community to reject Israel’s attempts to ban UNRWA’s activities, as he stressed the need for collective action against escalatory measures.

King Abdullah said this during his meeting with Estonian President Alar Karis in Amman, where the king pointed out the importance of increasing aid to Gaza to alleviate the humanitarian crisis.

He highlighted the critical need to ensure aid delivery and distribution through all possible means, underscoring the urgency of addressing the situation in Gaza. He reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to achieving comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, which would bring much-needed stability to the region.

The king also expressed gratitude for Estonia’s support in ending the war on Gaza and promoting regional peace. The endorsement acknowledges Estonia’s efforts in advocating for a peaceful resolution, demonstrating the importance of international cooperation in addressing the conflict.

Recall that Israeli politicians passed a controversial law to ban the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) from operating within the country.

The move is largely driven by allegations that some UNRWA staff members in Gaza have ties to Hamas, a group considered a terrorist organization by Israel.

The proposed ban has sparked concerns about the potential consequences for Palestinian refugees, who rely heavily on UNRWA’s support. With key donors like the US, Germany, and the EU already freezing around $450 million in funding, the UN agency is facing a major crisis that could collapse its operations.
