GCC Secretary General denounces violation of diplomatic premises following attack on UAE envoy’s residence
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi has joined growing voices to denounce the recent attack on the UAE Ambassador’s headquarters in Sudan, which caused significant damage to the building.
Albudaiwi urged the Sudanese government to take all necessary measures to protect diplomatic facilities and personnel, noting that such attacks violate the fundamental principle of diplomatic premise inviolability.
The Muslim Parrot earlier reported that the United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the attack on the residence of its ambassador in Khartoum, calling it a “heinous attack.”

This incident is the latest in a series of escalating tensions in Sudan, where conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has resulted in widespread human suffering and displacement.
Global powers including the United Nations have expressed deep concern, with Secretary-General António Guterres calling for all parties to refrain from attacks that harm civilians or damage infrastructure.
Albudaiwi stressed the GCC’s rejection of violence and terrorism that undermine security and stability, and reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to Sudan’s sovereignty, security, stability, and territorial integrity. He encouraged the Sudanese government and RSF to engage with initiatives aimed at resolving the crisis, including the Jeddah platform and neighbouring countries.
The international community has also weighed in, with the UAE emphasizing the importance of supporting Sudan’s efforts towards sustainable peace and security.
The UAE has called for debt relief packages and development assistance to address Sudan’s dire economic situation, which has left 39% of the population food insecure.
