Intense urban warfare has engulfed the largest cities in the Gaza Strip, leading to a rising death toll. The Israeli military’s operations have intensified in both northern and southern regions, marking the most extensive strikes in the past 24 hours since the recent truce collapse.

Israeli forces reported targeting over 450 locations in Gaza through land, sea, and air, with Hamas noting fierce clashes in the north’s Shejaia district and the south’s Khan Younis. The Israeli army, expanding its ground offensive, faces a densely populated and increasingly confined territory, resulting in heightened casualties.

Reports reveal continuous airstrikes in Khan Younis, Nusseirat camp, and Gaza City, contributing to a rising death toll. Hamas’s military wing claims to have thwarted an Israeli attempt to release a hostage, resulting in the reported death of the captive amid the ongoing conflict.

As the majority of Gazans face displacement, limited access to aid, overrun hospitals, and depleting food supplies, the UN warns of an impending societal collapse. Gaza’s health ministry reported 350 deaths in a single day, bringing the total toll from the two-month campaign to over 17,170, with thousands missing or presumed buried.

The situation has prompted global concern, with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken urging Israel to prioritize civilian protection. The conflict’s expansion across the entire Gaza Strip has left residents struggling to find refuge, with hospitals overwhelmed and citizens enduring harrowing conditions.

Desperation is palpable, with makeshift tents in Rafah and thousands attempting to flee towards the Egyptian border, where humanitarian aid remains distributed. Residents describe a dire situation of fear, hunger, and cold, emphasizing the lack of political solutions and worsening conditions.

Reports of looted aid convoys and damaged landmarks, such as the Great Omari Mosque, highlight the escalating chaos. International calls for a ceasefire intensify, with a United Nations vote on the resolution scheduled, reflecting the urgency to address the humanitarian crisis.

In the midst of the escalating conflict, US President Joe Biden emphasizes the need to protect civilians and separate them from Hamas. The World Health Organization warns that Gaza’s health system is on the brink of collapse, further underscoring the dire consequences of the prolonged conflict.
