Saudi low-cost carrier flyadeal has launched direct flights between Baghdad International Airport and Madinah, marking a significant move to strengthen travel links between Iraq and Saudi Arabia. This new route is set to accommodate the growing number of Iraqi travelers seeking to perform Umrah, as the airline expands its network in the region.
In addition to its new Baghdad-Madinah route, flyadeal will soon operate flights to Najaf and Basra, further enhancing accessibility for Iraqi passengers heading to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Currently, flyadeal’s operations are focused primarily on domestic flights, with an 80% domestic and 20% international ratio. However, CEO Steven Greenway revealed ambitious plans to shift towards more international routes, stating, “That will change to 50-50 over the next couple of years where we start expanding internationally.”
As demand for religious travel continues to rise, flyadeal’s strategic move aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to facilitate pilgrimage access and boost its tourism sector.
