Etihad to resume transit flights after UAE lifts suspension
Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways on Thursday 4 June, 2020, announced its plan to resume carrying transit flights passengers from 20 cities in Europe, Asia and Australia, effective from 10 June, 2020.
The state-owned carrier of Etihad Airways resumes carrying flights following the approval by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government for its carriers to resume transit flights.
In late March, the UAE government suspended all passenger flights except flights carrying foreign citizens out of the Gulf Arab state.
The transit flights via Abu Dhabi will now be available from Jakarta, Karachi, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Melbourne, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo to major cities across Europe including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Dublin, Frankfurt, Geneva, London Heathrow, Madrid, Milan, Paris Charles de Gaulle, and Zurich.
Etihad Airways has scheduled to resume transit flights, starting from 10 June, 2020.
However, it was not immediately clear when other UAE airlines would resume transit services.
Foreign citizens remain banned from entering the country except those holding UAE residency who require UAE government approval before leaving.
