Malaysian government expects nearly 700,000 foreigners for sea games in Kuala Lumpur.
According to Shah Alam news agency, the government officials reported to parliament about the expected number of foreign tourists during the Malaysian 6th sea games in Kuala Lumpur for year 2017 which would be nearly 700,000.
29th multi-sport south Asian Games would take place from 19th to 30th August 2017.
Minister of Tourism and Culture Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said, “The ministry IS confident of achieving the target with the country playing host to a sport event which is being much awaited by the people, including the neighbouring countries.”
He told reporter after opening the red carpet 2, “We are positive about this as SEA Games is an event that can attract many foreign tourists to the country, and also because of Malaysia’s location, which is at the centre, making it easier for them to come, either by land, sea or air.”
Mohamed Nazri said, “The hosting of the biennial multi-sport event was the best platform to generate income for the country.”
Malay government had been hosted that event since 1965. These games were organized in 1965, 1971,1977,1989 1nd 2001.
It is noted by some of official sources that 404 events in 38 sports were featured in the games.
