Jordan issues stern warning over airspace violations amid rising regional tensions
The Jordanian Minister of Government Communications Mohammad Momani has spoken against recent incursions into the country’s airspace by “regional actors,” particularly through the use of drones.
As the government spokesperson, Momani disclosed that several drones had entered Jordan’s airspace, with debris and parts falling within the Kingdom.
He noted that two drones had recently fallen in the northern governorates of Irbid and Jerash, near the borders with Syria and occupied Palestine, describing these incursions as “serious threats that Jordan is addressing through established military rules of engagement to safeguard national security.”
Highlighting the full preparedness of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), Momani stressed that JAF remains vigilant in protecting the Kingdom’s borders and is committed to applying rules of engagement to counter any threats to Jordan’s security and the well-being of its citizens.
Expressing concern over escalating regional tensions, Momani affirmed Jordan’s firm stance against being drawn into any external conflicts. “Jordan will not serve as a battleground for any foreign power and will not permit any military aircraft, missiles, or drones to cross its airspace,” he asserted.
Momani further called on regional actors to respect the sovereignty of neighboring countries and to cease actions that could endanger civilian lives.
He urged an end to “competing agendas that undermine the well-being, peace, dignity, and justice of the region’s people.”
