Jordan condemns assault in capital as terrorist act
The Jordanian Minister of Government Communication and Official Spokesperson Mohammad Momani issued a firm condemnation on Sunday, describing the armed assault on security forces in Amman’s Rabieh neighborhood as a terrorist act targeting officers in the line of duty.
In his official statement, Momani underscored that Jordan’s security and stability are non-negotiable.
Declaring national security an “inviolable red line,” he warned that any attempt to compromise it or endanger security personnel would be met with unwavering resolve and the full force of the law. The minister assured that perpetrators would face decisive legal repercussions.

Momani revealed that the assailant had a prior criminal record involving drug-related offenses, noting that such actions are unequivocally condemned by the Jordanian public.
He highlighted Jordan’s critical regional role, particularly in championing Palestinian interests, stressing that safeguarding national security is fundamental to fulfilling these responsibilities.
He further confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover all relevant details and potential connections. Based on the findings, comprehensive security and legal measures will be implemented to ensure accountability and maintain stability.
The Muslim Parrot reported earlier that a pre-dawn shooting in a neighborhood in Amman, the capital city of Jordan, which houses the Israeli embassy, resulted in the death of a gunman and injuries to three members of Jordan‘s security services.
Security forces swiftly surrounded the individual, who responded with further gunfire. Authorities applied the rules of engagement, leading to the death of the assailant.
