IMCTC defense ministers unite against Israeli aggression, pledge collective action on terrorism

The defense ministers of the member states of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) convened for their second meeting in Riyadh, addressing critical issues and solidifying their commitment to combating terrorism.

At the invitation of Prince Khalid Bin Salman, the Saudi Minister of Defense and chairman of the Council of Defense Ministers of IMCTC member states, the meeting emphasized the Coalition’s mission to safeguard member countries’ security and stability while ensuring the safety of their people.

A focal point of discussion was the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The defense ministers expressed unanimous support for Prince Khalid’s call for a unified stance among member states in condemning this aggression. They reaffirmed their determination to enhance cooperation, coordinate efforts, and unite against the risks posed by terrorism.

The ministers underscored the importance of joint collective action to confront all forms and manifestations of terrorism and extremism. Acknowledging the progress made in the Coalition’s journey, they committed to continue efforts through organized collective action and comprehensive planning, aligning with the Coalition’s primary areas of focus in the intellectual domain, media, combating terrorism financing, and the military domain.

Informed about the Coalition’s methodology and initiatives tailored to meet member states’ needs, the attendees agreed to establish a dedicated fund financing the Coalition’s initiatives. This fund will receive contributions from member states, supporting countries, and international bodies.

Emphasizing collaboration with supportive friendly countries and international organizations concerned with combating terrorism, the ministers encouraged such partnerships in line with the principles of international legitimacy. They welcomed countries expressing a desire to join the Coalition in the future.

In conclusion, the defense ministers expressed gratitude to the countries supporting the fund for financing initiatives and commended Saudi Arabia for establishing and supporting the Coalition. They extended their thanks to the Kingdom for hosting the second meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the IMCTC, recognizing its pivotal role in enabling the Coalition to continue its planned journey.
