Saudi Arabia: Deadly bus crash claims 15 lives, others in critical conditions

A tragic road accident near Jizan, western Saudi Arabia, claimed the lives of 15 people, including nine Indian nationals, according to media reports.

The Indian Consulate in Jeddah confirmed the devastating incident, extending condolences to the victims’ families. “We deeply mourn the tragic loss of nine Indian nationals in a road accident near Jizan. Our heartfelt condolences to the affected families,” the mission stated on X, assuring full support and coordination with local authorities.

Reports indicate that the accident took place around 6 AM on Sunday in Wadi bin Hashbal, Asir province, when a bus carrying 26 workers en route to a worksite collided with a trailer.

Among the deceased was Kapeli Ramesh (32) from Metpali Mandal, Telangana, as confirmed by Munsif Daily and Telangana Today. The crash also claimed six other victims from Nepal and Ghana.

Several injured workers have been hospitalized, with eleven survivors.

India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, expressed his grief, stating he was “deeply saddened” by the tragic loss of lives.

The Indian Consulate has issued helpline numbers for inquiries and is actively working with Saudi authorities to assist the affected families.
