Australian police have successfully disrupted a planned antisemitic attack after uncovering a caravan filled with explosives in an outer Sydney suburb, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.

The caravan was found on January 19 in Dural, located approximately 36 km (22 miles) northwest of Sydney’s city center.

Deputy Police Commissioner David Hudson reported that the explosives found in the caravan indicated they could have been used for an antisemitic attack.

Hudson assured that the threat had been fully contained, and there was no further risk to the Jewish community.

While some arrests have been made, Hudson did not specify the number of individuals arrested or the charges against them.

The discovery comes amid a recent surge in antisemitic incidents across Australia, with several attacks targeting synagogues, buildings, and cars since the onset of the Israel-Gaza war in late 2023.
