Saudi, UK defense ministers discuss regional stability in Riyadh

Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, met with his British counterpart, John Healey, in Riyadh on Thursday to enhance defense ties and address Middle East stability.

The talks focused on the “Saudi-British strategic partnership,” emphasizing joint efforts to address regional challenges and bolster international security.

Prince Khalid highlighted their shared vision for promoting peace, stating, “We also discussed our joint efforts to address regional challenges.”

Ahead of the meeting, the UK Ministry of Defense reaffirmed its commitment to a robust, forward-looking defense relationship with Saudi Arabia, building on decades of collaboration. Healey’s visit marked his first to Riyadh since assuming office under the Labour government.

The ministers also discussed initiatives for ceasefire agreements in Gaza and Lebanon, reflecting broader regional concerns. Earlier, Healey held talks with Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler in Ankara, focusing on NATO cooperation.

The meeting underscores both nations’ dedication to regional security and stronger defense cooperation.
