Gaza ceasefire tops as Nigerian president lands in Saudi Arabia for Joint Arab-Islamic Summit
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday to participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, according to a statement from his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.
Tinubu landed at King Abdulaziz International Airport at 10 a.m. local time, where he was welcomed by Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Governor of the Riyadh region.
The summit, hosted by King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, will address pressing regional issues, with a key focus on the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict.

Onanuga explained that President Tinubu will advocate for an immediate ceasefire and underscore Nigeria’s support for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
During the meeting, Tinubu is expected to call for renewed international commitment to the two-state solution, which he believes is essential for long-term peace in the region.
“Nigeria will strongly call for an immediate ceasefire and advocate for urgent efforts towards a peaceful resolution. We also support renewed international efforts to revive the two-state solution,” Onanuga stated.
The summit is scheduled to commence on Monday, November 11, 2024, with Tinubu set to present Nigeria’s stance on the crisis and promote a unified approach to Middle East peace.
