An Israeli airstrike on Jabalia, northern Gaza, killed at least 33 civilians, including 13 children, in a devastating attack that leveled a home crowded with residents and displaced families in the early hours of Sunday.

The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that the strike targeted a densely populated area, reducing the Alloush family home to rubble and scattering destruction across the neighborhood.

Rescue workers recovered the bodies of 33 victims, including children, while numerous survivors with serious injuries were rushed to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital. The search for survivors is ongoing, as more individuals are feared to be trapped beneath the debris.

The tragedy is part of a broader escalation in Gaza since October 2023, which has seen at least 43,552 Palestinians killed and over 102,765 injured in ongoing Israeli attacks.

Emergency teams are struggling to reach numerous civilians trapped under the ruins of destroyed buildings, hampered by continuous bombings that restrict access to critical areas.

International response to the crisis has intensified, with the UN Security Council calling for an immediate ceasefire and the International Court of Justice urging measures to prevent further civilian suffering and potential genocide.

Despite the calls, the Israeli offensive continues unabated, deepening the humanitarian emergency facing Gaza’s civilian population.
