Dubai gears up for Halloween with “houses of horror” springing up
Dubai’s expat community is gearing up for Halloween, with “houses of horror” springing up across the city.
This year, some residents are blending the traditions of Diwali and Halloween to create a unique celebration, dubbed ‘Diwal’oween’.
As the city comes together to celebrate, Dubai’s Halloween scene is a vibrant reflection of cultural exchange and festive excitement, blending old and new traditions in a colourful fusion of fun.
Although Halloween is officially a one-day event on 31 October, many Dubai residents spend weeks transforming their homes into eerie attractions, complete with spooky decorations and trick-or-treat surprises.
In the Damac Hills 2 neighbourhood, residents have been busy creating their own haunted houses. One Polish expat has taken the theme to new depths with an “underwater horror” scene, featuring a rusted car and shipwreck crafted from recycled materials.
Meanwhile, in high-rise buildings, the enthusiasm is just as evident. Natalia Miranda, a resident of Jumeirah Lakes Towers, has added a cackling witch decoration to her home and is planning a festive photoshoot with her family.
For many expats, Halloween has become a cherished tradition in Dubai, with locals and residents alike embracing the festive spirit.
