Two UAE citizens lost their lives, and three others were injured in a tragic car accident in Saudi Arabia, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) confirmed.

MoFA organized an air ambulance mission to transport the injured to the UAE in collaboration with the Saudi National Guard’s National Search and Rescue Centre.

After receiving initial care at King Khalid Hospital in Hail, the injured were airlifted to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Hospital for further treatment. The deceased were also repatriated to the UAE for funeral rites according to the Islamic Shariah.

The ministry expressed gratitude to Saudi authorities for their cooperation and support in facilitating the medical evacuation and repatriation process, ensuring timely assistance for the affected families.

This incident follows another tragic accident in July 2023 on Saudi Arabia’s Al Batha-Haradh highway. The collision, involving two vehicles, claimed five lives and injured eight others. One vehicle, registered in the UAE, carried a family of 12, while the other, a Saudi vehicle, carried seven family members. The crash led to a vehicle fire, intensifying the tragedy.

These accidents have heightened road safety concerns among UAE residents. A recent survey highlighted growing public anxiety over road safety, stressing the need for heightened awareness and preventive measures for travelers and families on regional highways.
