Saudi, Malaysia denounce Israeli attack on Iran
In response to the fresh escalation in the Middle East, Saudi Arabia has condemned Israel’s attacks on Iran, calling it a violation of the country’s sovereignty and a violation of international laws and norm
The Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the attack threatens the security and stability of the countries and peoples of the region.
“The Kingdom affirms its firm position in its rejection of the continued escalation in the region and the expansion of the conflict that threatens the security and stability of the countries and peoples of the region,” the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Riyadh also urged all parties to “exercise the utmost restraint and reduce escalation”, warning of the danger of continuing military conflicts in the region.
Similarly, Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry faulted Israel for the attack, labelling the strikes a “clear violation of international law” that “seriously undermine regional security”.
“Malaysia calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities and an end to the cycle of violence,” the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry added that Israel’s continued attacks on countries in the Middle East continue to bring the region closer to the brink of a wider war.
Recall that the Israeli army said it carried out strikes on military targets in Iran in response to what it said were months of attacks by “Iran and its proxies” in the region.
Confirming the attack, Iran’s military said Israeli strikes targeted military bases in the provinces of Ilam, Khuzestan and Tehran, and caused “limited damage”.
