At least 18 people, including four children, were killed in an Israeli attack in the Jnah neighborhood in southern Lebanon, located just across the road from Lebanon’s largest public hospital, the health ministry said on Tuesday.

This tragic incident also left several people injured, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

Describing the incident, a Lebanese woman, Ola Fahed Eid said she saw children who were playing in the courtyard “torn to pieces” as the missiles landed.

She was quoted by CNN saying: “The children were playing in the yard when they shouted to me and said, ‘We heard on the television news that they (Israel) targeting the Ouzai and Lailaki neighborhoods.’ I asked them to calm down, and they replied as usual, ‘Then throw us some candy and chocolates.’ As I threw them the candy from the balcony, the first missile fell, followed by another one,” she said.

“I saw the children torn to pieces, screaming, and I saw a man, Zaghoul, who had fallen among the rubble. I managed to pull him out, along with eight others who were still alive.”

Since September 23, 2024, Israeli airstrikes have killed over 800 people and injured more than 5,000 in Lebanon. The situation remains dire, with hundreds of thousands of Lebanese civilians displaced.

The conflict has claimed numerous civilian lives, including children, and injured many more. Governments and human rights organizations have called for de-escalation, but Israel has rejected these appeals.
