Dubai wonders: Authorities introduce AI driven app for visitors, residents to report road hazards, obstacles
In an exciting move, residents and visitors in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, can now report broken roads, fallen trees, and other obstacles using the newly floated Dubai Now platform.
The new service, called Madinati, utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to simplify the reporting process.
Madinati is a joint effort between Digital Dubai, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Municipality to provide a seamless experience for the community, according to Matar Al Hemeiri, CEO of Digital Dubai.
Users can take a photo of the situation and share it on the Dubai Now app. The AI system will then detect and understand the image and automatically route it to the concerned department, either RTA or Dubai Municipality.

In an interview with Khaleej Times, Matar Al Hemeiri, CEO of Digital Dubai explained that, “The only requirement from the person sharing content is to confirm the location, though the system can detect location also,” stressing how seamless the process is.
Madinati is one of 280 services from more than 45 entities, in both the private and government sector, that are available on the Dubai Now super app.
“We always look at how to leverage emerging technology to make a better experience for individuals – both residents and visitors,” Al Hemeiri stressed.
