Israeli airstrike targets car, kills five in West Bank
Palestinian medics reported on Thursday that five people were killed in a strike targeting a car in the occupied West Bank city of Tubas, during Israeli military raids in the area.
“Five killed and (one) seriously wounded in a strike (on) a car in Tubas,” the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement.
The Israeli military said its aircraft “conducted three targeted strikes on armed terrorists” in the Tubas area.
According to eyewitnesses, a large number of Israeli troops stormed the Faraa refugee camp in the Tubas governorate, where explosions were heard, AFP reported.
The strike is part of a broader offensive launched by Israel across the northern West Bank on August 28, aimed at Palestinian militants. The assault has led to significant destruction and the deaths of more than 30 Palestinians, including children and militants, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
In the same period, one Israeli soldier was killed in Jenin, the site of most of the Palestinian fatalities.
Israel has occupied the West Bank since 1967 and has intensified its military raids in the territory following the outbreak of war with Hamas militants in Gaza on October 7.
