Iraq suspends six Iraqi Airways officials over flight delays
A statement from the Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced that following significant delays at Baghdad International Airport on August 31, six officials of Iraqi Airways have been suspended.
A statement from the Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced that following significant delays at Baghdad International Airport on August 31, six officials of Iraqi Airways have been suspended.
A maximum of 60 days will pass while the sanctions are in effect until the flight delays are investigated.

Following lengthy postponements caused by personnel shortages, aircraft malfunctions, and difficulties with flight schedules that left thousands of local and international customers stranded, the Iraqi government became involved in the airline’s operations.
Thousands of Shia Muslims were returning from the Arbaeen pilgrimage in Karbala, Iraq, at the time of the delays. This year, almost 21 million visitors attended the religious celebration.
