Muslim World League hosts grand ceremony in Tanzania
The Muslim World League (MWL) held a prestigious ceremony at the city’s main stadium, attended by over 60,000 people from across Africa, to honour distinguished Quran reciters and memorizers.
MWL Secretary-General Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan led the event, which coincided with the Tanzania International Quran Competition for Girls. Top religious, government and parliamentary officials also participated.
The ceremony recognized female Quran memorizers worldwide, awarding certifications from the MWL’s World Council of Quran Reciters to finalists. The MWL has pioneered the certification of Quranic recitation, known as ijazah.
Al-Issa paid tribute to renowned deceased Quran reciters, selected by a nomination committee, and their families received honours, celebrating their contributions and inspiring future generations.
This grand event celebrated the preservation and transmission of the Holy Quran, promoting unity and excellence among the Muslim community.
