Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned Israel’s ongoing military operations in the West Bank, which have resulted in dozens of Palestinian casualties in recent days.

Egypt denounced Israel’s attempts to expand confrontations in Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and its use of excessive force, unlawful killings, and destruction of civilian infrastructure.

Egypt warned that Israel’s actions undermine the prospects for a future Palestinian state and violate its legal obligations as an occupying power. Egypt called on the international community and the UN Security Council to take a firm stance against Israel’s illegal practices and provide protection for the Palestinian people.

Egypt’s statement emphasized the need for Israel to protect the security of the Palestinian population in occupied territories instead of escalating the situation and fueling conflict. Egypt reiterated its warning against adopting a scorched-earth policy that aims to eliminate the Palestinian people’s hope for an independent state.

The ongoing Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip has resulted in a devastating humanitarian crisis, with local health authorities reporting over 40,700 Palestinian fatalities and 94,100 injuries, mostly among women and children.

The enclave has been under a severe blockade, leading to acute shortages of food, clean water, and medicine, leaving much of the region in ruins. The situation has been further exacerbated by the invasion of the southern city of Rafah on May 6, where over one million Palestinians had sought refuge.

Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which has ordered a halt to military operations in Rafah
