Iraqi PM meets with businessmen in Egypt’s Al-Alamein

The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, encouraged Egyptian businessmen and firms to engage in strategic projects in Iraq.

Al-Sudani’s remarks took place during his meeting on Tuesday with Egyptian businessmen in the northern Egyptian city of Al-Alamein, where he highlighted the importance of the strategic relationship between Iraq and Egypt, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The Iraqi Prime Minister invited Egyptian businessmen to participate in important projects planned by the Iraqi government, noting that Iraq is an important market with an increasing growth rate because of its important geographical location in an important part of the world.

The government in Iraq is planning to build several industrial cities that will be part of the country’s strategic project of the Development Road, according to Al-Sudani. He also mentioned that Iraq has important partnerships with Turkey, Qatar, and the UAE in terms of this project.

Al-Sudani emphasized that the largest industrial city and the first phase of the Al-Faw Grand Port in southern Iraq will be a qualitative contribution to the region when they are completed by the end of 2025.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of Al-Sudani’s official visit to Egypt. Earlier on Tuesday, Al-Sudani met with the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and emphasized that the Iraqi government is eager to collaborate with Egyptian companies through the Iraqi-Egyptian Joint Committee, particularly in the oil and gas sectors.
