The US Army’s Central Command said on Wednesday that ISIS is on pace to more than double the total number of attacks they claimed in 2023.

A statement released by the US Central Command mentioned that ISIS has claimed 153 attacks in Iraq and Syria from January to June 2024.

The rise in attacks suggests that ISIS is making an effort to reassemble after years of diminished capacity.

The United States Central Command, in cooperation with security forces in Iraq and Syria, conducted 196 Defeat ISIS missions in the first half of 2024, killing 44 ISIS operatives and detaining 166 more in an effort to keep up the fight against ISIS and stop it from launching attacks.

The statement noted that during 137 joint operations in Iraq, 30 ISIS terrorists were killed and 74 were taken into custody.

59 operations carried out in Syria in collaboration with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and other allies resulted in the deaths of 14 ISIS militants and the detention of 92 others, according to the US Central Command.

One of the most important things for the long-term defeat of ISIS is to keep pursuing about 2,500 extremists who are still free in Syria and Iraq.

The current international efforts to repatriate over 9,000 ISIS prisoners held in Syrian detention centers, as well as the rehabilitation and reintegration of over 43,000 people and families staying in refugee camps, are equally significant.
