Germany unveils ambitious energy projects in Iraq

Germany has officially disclosed its plans to undertake major energy projects in Iraq. The German Ambassador to Iraq, Christine Hohmann, conveyed this announcement during a press briefing on Thursday, highlighting the country’s commitment to fostering energy development and investment initiatives in the region.

Speaking to the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Ambassador Hohmann underscored the pivotal role Siemens is playing in executing a crucial project within Iraq. Emphasizing the potential of associated gas in the country, she detailed Germany’s endeavors to capitalize on this resource, outlining it as a practical avenue for energy utilization.

Ambassador Hohmann shed light on Germany’s prominent automobile industry, boasting giants such as Mercedes and BMW. She stressed that the successful implementation of these energy projects necessitates an environment adhering to specific standards, a condition she expressed confidence in fostering during the forthcoming stages of development in Iraq.

Expanding on Germany’s strategic vision for Iraq, Hohmann revealed that the nation is gearing up for projects centered around associated gas utilization. Additionally, she alluded to forthcoming initiatives that will materialize through collaborative agreements between Iraqi and German companies, further solidifying the bilateral cooperation.
