Saudi Arabia prioritizes global development of Halal industries, Minister Al-Qasabi inaugurates Makkah Halal forum

In a significant step towards fostering the growth of halal industries on a global scale, Dr. Majed Al-Qasabi, the Minister of Commerce, inaugurated the Makkah Halal Forum at the Makkah Chamber of Exhibitions and Events Center.

The event drew the participation of officials from various countries and specialists in the field of halal industries worldwide. Al-Qasabi, in his address, underscored the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting and localizing the halal products industry, emphasizing its inclusion in the strategic goals outlined in the Saudi Vision 2030.

The Minister highlighted the collaboration between public, private, and non-profit sectors, guided by the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, in achieving the goals set by the Vision 2030. Al-Qasabi emphasized the importance of the international forum, aligning with directives from higher authorities, as a mechanism supported by various entities, including the Halal Products Development Company, the National Industrial Development and Logistics Services Program, and regulatory bodies such as the Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of the private sector, Al-Qasabi stressed its complementary function in identifying challenges and proposing solutions to position Saudi Arabia as a global hub for halal products and services, aligning with the objectives of Vision 2030.

Sheikh Abdullah Saleh Kamel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their unwavering support to the commercial and economic sectors. He also commended Minister Al-Qasabi for his continual support of the Makkah Halal Forum, which aims to enhance collaboration between the government and private sectors.

The Forum, a pioneering initiative, garnered praise from Sheikh Kamel, who highlighted its role in fostering international partnerships, supporting economic growth, and diversifying trade opportunities. He extended his thanks to partners, sponsors, and participants for their active engagement in raising awareness of halal industries and addressing sector challenges.

The second day of the forum featured sessions with 11 speakers, focusing on topics such as “Creativity in targeting new segments of customers.” This session explored complementary services, including financing, insurance, and logistics, emphasizing the importance of expanding customer bases and adopting innovative strategies to achieve growth and excellence in these industries.
