OIC, UN conclude Biennial meeting, agree to complement each other’s strengths
Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and United Nation have concluded their coordination meeting in Geneva with a strong commitment to reinforce cooperation in the political, economic, social, humanitarian, cultural and scientific spheres
The 15th Session of the Biennial General Cooperation Meeting between the Secretariats of UN and the OIC and their specialized organizations and agencies concluded its proceedings, on 20th July, 2022.
The meeting ended with a reaffirmation of commitment by all participating OIC institutions and UN agencies to work together and complement each other’s strengths.
The meeting also agreed on how to share best practices and move ahead in a constructive manner in their common search for solutions to global problems, including fostering peace, protecting human rights, and promoting economic and social progress in the common Member States of the both Organizations.
Both Organisations also agreed on a Matrix of Activities between the OIC and the UN, including the realization of the OIC-2025: Programme of Action and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, for the next biennium.
The Meeting further agreed to organize the 16th Session of the General Cooperation Meeting between the Secretariats of the UN and the OIC and their specialized organizations and agencies in 2024 in the premises of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security, a specialized institution of the OIC based in Kazakhstan.
